PSA 202 Crime Trends:

Crimes reported in November 2023 were 189% higher than in October 2023 and 83% higher than in October 2022. The Monthly average of Property Crimes is 23% higher in 2023 than in 2022. The Total monthly average crime for 2023 is 19% higher than 2022 monthly averages (32.55 vs 27.25) and 19% lower than then historical monthly average from January 2015 through November 2023 (32.55 vs 40.17).

Robbery (1 Total):

  • Tuesday, November 7 at 5:02 PM; 3700 block of Nebraska Ave, NW; CCN 23183209. Two suspects were walking down the street. One snatched the victim’s headphones off her head. Both fled toward Wisconsin Ave. This case is still open.

Motor Vehicle Theft (7 Total)

  • Tuesday, October 31 at 6:30 PM; 4500 block of Albemarle St, NW; CCN 23179583. The complainant stated that upon returning to where their vehicle was parked, they found shattered glass and the listed vehicle stolen. The vehicle was recovered a block away from the theft location with the rear drivers-side window smashed and the steering wheel column punched. 
  • Tuesday, October 31 at 9:30 PM; 4322 block of 42nd St, NW; CCN 23179653. The complainant stated that upon returning to where the vehicle was parked, they found broken glass and the listed vehicle stolen. The vehicle was recovered in Riverdale MD on November 19 with a punched ignition, broken windows, a flat tire, and a missing front license plate.
  • Sunday, November 5 at 12:45 AM; 4400 block of Albemarle St, NW; CCN 23182079. The complainant stated that when they returned to their vehicle it was missing. On November 6, 2023, members of the Third District Crime Suppression Team recovered the vehicle on a private lot with the suspect was found sleeping in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The suspect was placed under arrest for Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle as well a Receiving Stolen Property (Felony). 
  • Tuesday, November 7 at 5:40 PM; 4500 block of Wisconsin Ave, NW; CCN 23183232. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) stole the listed vehicle while he was picking up a door dash delivery order. The vehicle was left running, but the key was with the owner. On November 10, 2023, members of the Fourth District Auto Theft Unit located the listed vehicle parked and unoccupied in a basement parking garage located. 
  • Saturday, November 18 at 1:55 AM; 3800 block of Garrison St, NW; CCN 23189109. The complainant reported that when returned to their vehicle, they noticed it was missing. On November 18, 2023, the vehicle was recovered in the 7th District with 11 Rifle Magazines and Rifle Stock inside the vehicle. 
  • Wednesday, November 22 at 12:30 AM; 5000 block of Belt Rd, NW; CCN 23191077. The complainant reported that they parked the vehicle and accidentally left the vehicle ignition key fob inside. The vehicle was recovered SE DC later that day with both license plates missing. 
  • Sunday, November 26 at 6:40 PM; 4500 block of Wisconsin Ave, NW; CCN 23193168. The complainant states that they left their car running with the keys in his vehicle while they were retrieving an Uber Eats order.  The key was in the ignition and running while the vehicle was unattended. A witness recorded a video of a vehicle approaching from the side. The suspect exited that vehicle and entered the complainant’s vehicle and was last seen driving northbound on Wisconsin Ave. NW. The other vehicle was also listed as a stolen vehicle. 

CRIMES REPORTED IN PSA 202 Nov 2023
