Resolution of ANC 3E in Support of a Mural on McDonald’s Back Wall
Along 40th Place Adjacent to Glover-Archbold Park
Whereas, Artist Jarrett Ferrier will apply for a Public Art Building Communities grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities to install a mural on the back retaining wall of McDonald’s Restaurant at 40th Place, which is adjacent to Glover-Archbold Park;
Whereas, the mural application was presented to ANC3E and approval was sought from ANC 3E as part of the grant submission requirements;
Whereas, the artist, Jarrett Ferrier has also painted the mural at Tenley Circle which depicts the history of Tenleytown;
Whereas, the proposed mural would be adjacent to the boundary of ANC SMD 3E05;
Whereas, the proposed mural celebrates five key elements of Rock Creek Park – Glover-Archbold Park, Hazen and Soapstone Parks, Pulpit Rock and Peirce Mill;
Whereas, the mural would enhance, improve and protect the streetscape as the wall at McDonald’s has been covered with graffiti in the past;
Now, therefore, in recognition of these considerations, ANC 3E supports the proposed mural of Rock Creek Park on the McDonald’s wall on 40th Place;
Be it resolved,ANC 3E recommends funding be granted for the mural under the Public Art Building Communities Grant.
The resolution passed by a vote of __-__-__ at a properly noticed meeting held on July 26th, 2018, at which a quorum was present, with Commissioners Bender, Hall, Erhardt, McHugh, and Quinn in attendance.
