PSA 202 Crime Trends:

Property crimes were up 72% in August over the previous month and down 30% over August 2019. The average number of Burglaries and Motor Vehicle Thefts per month are up this year 173% and 117% respectively over the monthly average in 2019 whereas the average number of Thefts Other are down this year 32% over last year. 

Crime Details by Category:

Homicide (1 Total)

  • Thursday, September 24, 7:36 PM; 5200 block of Western Ave, NW; CCN 20136720. Upon arrival on the scene, detectives located an unconscious and unresponsive adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead. A second victim suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound was located in Montgomery County.

Burglary (4 Total)

  • Thursday, September 3, 1:29 AM; 5300 block of Wisconsin Ave, NW; CCN 20125710. Unknown suspect(s) smashed a large window to gain entry and stole the property.  
  • Tuesday, September 22, 6:00 AM; 4500 block of Wisconsin Ave, NW; CCN 20135271. In the early morning a suspect used a punch tool to break glass and enter through an emergency exit of the Target. Once inside, contents of an Apple display case were stolen.
  • Tuesday, September 22, 6:37 AM; 5200 block of Western Ave, NW; CCN 20135305. In the early morning, a suspect forced entry through the front window of the Lord & Taylor. Once inside, about 6 handbags were stolen.
  • Wednesday, September 23, 12:41 AM; 5300 block of Wisconsin Ave, NW; CCN 20135776. Members of the Second District responded and discovered glass breakage in the front of the store.

  • Between Friday  September 11 at 12:30 PM and Saturday September 12 at 11:11 AM; 4600 block of 43rd PL, NW; CCN 20130428.
  • Tuesday, September 15, 12:33 AM; 4700 block of Butterworth Pl, NW; CCN 20131788. 
  • Tuesday, September 15, 2:20 PM; 4620 block of 40th St, NW; CCN 20132035. 
  • Wednesday, September 16, 10:55 PM; 4600 block of Wisconsin Ave, NW; CCN 20132898.
