PSA 202 Crime Trends:

The overall number of crimes in December month were 30% higher than in November but were similar to those reported in December of 2018.  Overall crime in 2019 were roughly equivalent to those in 2018 with Thefts from Auto 17% lower than in 2018, Thefts Other 15% higher and Motor Vehicle Thefts 38% lower. 

Crime Details by Category:

Assault with Dangerous Weapon (1 Total)

  • Tuesday, December 24, 6:50 AM: 5300 block of Wisconsin Ave NW: CCN 19228513. The victim asked the suspect to leave the location. A verbal altercation followed, and the suspect cut the victim with a knife. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Robbery (6 Total)

  • Tuesday, December 3, 9:50 PM: 5000 block of 44th St NW: CCN 19215787. The victim’s backpack was snatched by the suspect who then fled on foot towards Wisconsin Ave, NW.
  • Wednesday, December 4, 8:09 PM: 3900 block of Ingomar St NW: CCN 19216436. The suspect approached from the rear, grabbed the victim’s purse, and a tussle ensued. The suspect was able to grab the victim’s purse and briefcase and fled on foot. 
  • Monday, December 9 at 6:00 PM: 4400 block of Grant Rd NW: CCN 19219645. The suspect approached the victim from behind and stuck a small chrome handgun into the victim’s stomach. The suspect demanded and received money and was last seen running northbound on Fort Drive. 
  • Tuesday, December 10 at 1:28 AM: 3600 block of Warren St NW: CCN 19219830. Two suspects approached the victims and one of the suspects pointed a handgun at both the victims. The suspects took property and fled in a dark colored 4-door hatchback.  
  • Friday, December 20 at 12:06 PM: 4100 block of Wisconsin Ave NW: CCN 19226261. The suspect was in the building when the victim asked if he needed help. When the victim could not provide the help the suspect wanted, the suspect held his jacket like there was a weapon in it and demanded the victim’s wallet.  The victim gave the suspect $40 in cash and the suspect fled in an unknown direction. 
  • Tuesday, December 24 at 4:00 PM: 4300 block of Yuma St NW: CCN 19228756. The suspect snatched the victim’s purse and fled.

Burglary (2 Total)

  • Thursday, December 19, 2:35 AM: 5300 block of Wisconsin Ave NW: CCN 19225647. The suspect entered the office through an unlocked door. The suspect attempted to open a locked safe but was unsuccessful. 
  • Tuesday, December 24 at 12:51 PM: 4300 block of River Rd NW: CCN 19228510. The suspect broke into a residence. A witness called 911. A suspect was arrested
