PSA 202 Crime Trends:
Crimes reported in May 2023 were lower than in both April 2023, due to a decrease in Thefts Other, and similar to crimes in May 2022. The monthly average crime for 2023 is higher than 2022 monthly averages (32.20 vs 27.25) and lower than then historical monthly average from January 2015 through May 2023 (32.20 vs 40.79).

Assault with Dangerous Weapon (1 Total)
- Friday, May 26 at 3:59 PM; 4530 block of Wisconsin Ave, NW; CCN 23083282. MPD officers were in the 4500 Block of Wisconsin Ave, NW, when they noticed a large group fight involving a group of teenagers developing. MPD Officers witnessed one of the females retrieve a knife from her sock and move towards the group in an attempt to assault them. An MPD officer placed himself between the group and the female with the knife and drew his service weapon and ordered the suspect to drop the knife. The suspect dropped the knife was taken into custody. A bystander shared a video with the police and another suspect was seen with a knife. That second suspect was still on the scene and was also arrested for ADW. Two additional arrests were made for Disorderly Affray and resisting arrest. All of the juveniles involved were Dunbar students.
Robbery (1 Total)
- Thursday, May 11 at 6:25 PM; 4100 block of Emery Pl, NW; CCN 23074167. Four juvenile suspects approached the victim. One was armed with a knife and demanded his keys to the vehicle. He struggled with them. A neighbor came out and spooked them and the suspects fled.
- Saturday, May 13 at 8:26 PM; 5300 block of 43rd St, NW; CCN 23075442. Two suspects, 18-20 years old, wearing all black and ski masks, approached the victim on foot, and demanded his belongings. Both were armed with handguns. Taken was the victim’s vehicle keys, a wallet, and a cell phone. The suspects then fled in the victim’s vehicle and were last seen traveling northbound in the 5300 block of 42nd St NW. The vehicle taken was a 2023 Silver Toyota Camry.
Burglary (1 Total)
- Tuesday May 16 at 1:17 AM; 4900 block of Wisconsin Ave NW, NW; CCN 23076876. The complainant stated that the suspect was heard smashing the front glass door on a surveillance camera and was seen entering the listed location. The suspect stole several items from inside of the store and fled the scene upon the officers’ arrival.
