Whereas the Friendship Heights Task Force, has proposed the following "improvements" to the River Road and Western Avenue and Wisconsin Avenue and Western Avenue intersections;

1. The Kiss and Ride in front of Hecht's will be put underground in the new Hecht's garage.
2. Intersection of River Road and Western Avenue - Trucks going west on River Road will not be allowed to turn right onto Western Avenue.
3. Intersection of Western, Wisconsin and Military
   
   • The median on the Maryland side of Wisconsin will be widened;
   • A small pedestrian island will be added on the District side of Wisconsin Avenue.
   • Dedicated left and right turn lanes will be provided on the Maryland side (going South on Wisconsin Avenue) entering the District.
   • There will be a dedicated right turn lane on the District side of Wisconsin (going North on Wisconsin Avenue) to Military and Western.

    

4. Wisconsin Circle - A number of bus, taxi, truck and vehicle changes are being contemplated
   to better accommodate pedestrians.

And

Whereas, the residents of Friendship Heights are very concerned about the impact on traffic and congestion on their neighborhood streets; and

Whereas, Michele Pourciau, of DC DPW, presented the above improvements at a meeting of ANC 3E;

Now, therefore, ANC 3E, supports the proposed "improvements" as helping improve the traffic flow in the above intersections;

ANC3E also requests that DPW study the effect of not allowing a left turn from Western Avenue to go south on Wisconsin Avenue on the surrounding residential streets.
