Resolution Opposing the Renewal of a Liquor License for the
Round Table Restaurant and Bar or Requesting the Amending of the
Current Voluntary Agreement

WHEREAS, the Round Table Restaurant and Bar has applied for renewal of its CR liquor license; and

WHEREAS, ANC 3E negotiated a Voluntary Agreement with the Round Table Restaurant and Bar in 1998 to address the problems the patrons of the restaurant caused in the immediate neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, that Voluntary Agreement addressed the real issues indirectly, rather than directly, e.g. calling for a doorman, signs on bar tables, etc. rather than a reduction in hours of operation; and

WHEREAS, the indirect approach has not worked and drunkedness, disorderly conduct, slamming of car doors, gunning of car engines continue to plague the neighborhood late at night; and

WHEREAS, other restaurants within a 600 foot radius of the Round Table Restaurant and Restaurant close at 10PM or 11PM on week nights and 11PM or midnight on week ends, and the Round Table Restaurant and Bar remains open until 2AM on week nights and 3AM on weekends; and

WHEREAS, the Round Table Restaurant and Bar is located immediately adjacent to a residential neighborhood so that its 2 and 3 AM closings are clearly inappropriate for the area;

Now therefore, ANC 3E opposes the renewal of the Round Table Restaurant and Bar's liquor license, unless the existing Voluntary Agreement is amended to require it to close at 10PM on week nights and 11 PM on weekends.

ANC 3E unanimously approved this resolution at its regularly scheduled meeting on September 14, 2000. Commissioners present were: Tad DiBiase, Jill Diskan, Charles Mayo, Chris McNamara, and Steve Posniak.
